Welcome back to year 2017-2018!

Hello new CompE’s and welcome back to the old ones. We’re very excited to welcome around 100 new second year CompEs this year. The Computer Engineering Club is already working on making this year even better!

We just back from school, and our AGM is happening soon! Show up to our fall general meeting, and enjoy free pizza with us this Wednesday, September 13th @ ETLC E2-001. There you’ll get to meet our executives where they will talk about the plans for this semester. You also get a chance to run for our junior executive positions below.

  • Fifth Year Academic Representative
    • Represents all 5th year (and above) Computer Engineering students.
    • Is a member of the Junior Executive Committee and holds one vote.
  • Fourth Year Academic Representative
    • Represents all 4th year Computer Engineering students.
    • Is a member of the Junior Executive Committee and holds one vote.
  • Third Year Academic Representative
    • Represents all 3rd year Computer Engineering students.
    • Is a member of the Junior Executive Committee and holds one vote.
  • Second Year Academic Representative
    • Represents all 2nd year Computer Engineering students.
    • Is a member of the Junior Executive Committee and holds one vote.
  • Graduation Representative (more than one position available)
    • Represents all graduating Computer Engineers.
    • Assists in the organization of the graduation banquet.
    • Informs graduating students of deadlines and events such as, but not limited to, the iron ring ceremony and photo sessions.
    • Sits on the graduation committee.
    • Is a member of the Junior Executive Committee and holds one vote.
  • Geer Week Coordinator (one or two positions)
    • Plan and coordinate Geer Week.
    • Responsible for paperwork and registration documents pertaining to Geer Week.
    • Coordinate all deadlines related to Geer Week.
    • Are members of the Junior Executive Committee and hold one vote each.
  • PR Representative
    • Represents the Computer Engineering Club during Geer Week
    • Responsible for attending all events during Geer Week
    • Is a member of the Junior Executive Committee and holds one vote.
  • Office Representative
    • Responsible for the club office space. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of the club office premises.
    • Is a member of the Junior Executive Committee and holds one vote.
  • Merchandise Representative
    • Responsible for coordinating all CompE branded clothing orders. This may include design, advertisement, ordering, sales, and distribution.
    • May be assisted by the VP Finance in matters concerning money.
    • Is a member of the Junior Executive Committee and holds one vote.
  • Stock Representative
    • Responsible for the club office space. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of the club office premises.
    • Is a member of the Junior Executive Committee and holds one vote.
  • Marketing Representative
    • Responsible for updating social networks and club newsletter.
    • Preferably has knowledge for poster editing / creation
    • Is a member of the Junior Executive Committee and holds one vote.

17/18 Senior Executive Elections

Election season is coming up and CompE club is looking for the next batch of executives to make the next school year a great one! Below is a list of all available senior executive positions. If you wanna find out more about what each position does, you can find the current executives in the CompE Club room, or send us an email at exec@compeclub.com.

Only Computer Engineering Students at the U of A are qualified to run for any of the positions below.

 

PRESIDENT

  • Responsible for management of the day-to-day business of the CompE Club within guidelines set down by the executive committee.
  • Represents the CompE Club on the ESS Board of Directors.
  • Chairs all formal executive and general meetings of the CompE Club.
  • Is a member of the Senior Executive Committee but may only vote in the event of a tie.
  • Is a member of the Junior Executive Committee but may only vote in the event of a tie.
  • With the concurrence of the executive committee, appoints honorary member of the CompE club.
  • Responsible for the establishment of office hours of the CompE Club within the first month of each term.
  • In the event of a position on either the Senior or Junior Executive Committee not being filled, is responsible for, upon unanimous approval by the Senior Executive Committee, for reassigning duties as necessary.
  • Has signing authority over the Computer Engineering club’s bank account
  • QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must have held an Executive Committee position in a previous term.
    • Should be a full-year Executive Committee member.

VP External

  • Acts on the presidents behalf during his/her absences.
  • Represents the CompE Club to the Students’ Union.
  • Is a member of the Senior Executive Council and holds one vote.
  • In charge of updating the sponsorship package and contacting potential sponsors for any of CompE Club’s events.
  • Is in charge of planning ECE Week with the EE Club and EngPhys Club.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must be a third or subsequent year CompE club member.

VP Finance

  • Maintains financial records and is responsible for any communication or transactions with the bank.
  • Responsible for maintenance, up-keep, and stocking of the Club fridge in the event that no  stock Representative is elected.
  • Responsible for making weekly deposits from petty and main cash to bank account.
  • Is a member of the Senior Executive Committee and holds one vote.
  • Has signing authority over the Computer Engineering club’s bank account
  • QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must be a third or subsequent year CompE club member.

VP Internal

  • Acts as the club representative for joint faculty – student programs in all cases acting on the policies and positions adopted by the Executive Committee.
  • Records proceedings at all Senior Executive meetings and ensures these records are properly distributed.
  • Is a member of the Senior Executive Council and holds one vote.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must be a third or subsequent year CompE club member.

VP Social

  • Coordinates the planning and execution of events designed to enhance the social well-being of the membership such as formal and informal get-togethers as well as any fund raising events.
  • Is a member of the Senior Executive Committee and holds one vote.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must be a third or subsequent year CompE club member.

 

Nomination is now open and the nomination package is now available. Deadline for nomination is on March 4th.

 

All candidates must show up to the Winter AGM on March 2nd at 5pm in the Colt Design Lab to give a speech about why they want to run for the position.
