Reading week is over, and finals are approaching. If you'd still like to live in denial of all the assignments and poorly timed midterms ahead of you, you could always check out the events below!

1) Computer Engineering Merchandise

WHO: Anyone interested in Computer Engineering merchandise
WHEN: Deadline is Friday at 4:00pm
WHAT: Computer Engineering is getting merch, and it's up to you to decide what we get. If you have any strong oppinions about what will be made, now is your chance to voice them. The form will close on Friday at 4:00pm so please fill the form out before the deadline .

2) Cyber Security: Learn How to Get Started

WHO: Anyone who wants to learn about cyber security
WHERE: MacEwan University, Building 6, Room 6-132
WHEN: Wednesday 20th November @ 5:30 pm 6:30 pm
WHAT: With reading week upon us, you have a whole week to relax and procrastinate. Why not start a little early with this boardgame night? This Friday, there will be food, there will be games, and there will be people who are just as stressed as you! It will be a great time, and we hope to see you there!

3) Speed Friending

WHO: Anyone who wants more food and friends
WHEN: Wednesday 20th November @ 6:00pm - 8:00pm
WHAT: Friends Across Campus is having a Holiday-themed Speed Friending and Ornament Decorating event, and you're invited! Speed Friending is like speed dating with the goal of meeting new people and making new friends! Afterwards, the fun and socialization will continue over games and decorating ornaments. There will also be free pizza and hot chocolate! The event will take place on November 20th from 6:00-8:00pm in ECHA L1-150. Take a break from studying, make some friends, and start celebrating the holiday season! Learn more about the event from our facebook page:

4) A Conversation with Jobber's Co-founders

WHO: Anyone with in interest in the intersection of hardware and software!
WHERE: Jobber HQ - 4th floor, 10520 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton
WHEN: Wednesday, November 20 @ 5:30pm - 8:30pm
WHAT: In the spirit of Global Entrepreneurship Week, come learn about starting a successful tech company in Edmonton from Jobber’s Co-Founders, who were recognized as Startup Canada’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2018. Learn about the founding of jobber, and the lessons learned in the process. This event is aimed at students looking to start their own business or are joining the startup industry. Food is provided.

5) Battle of the Bands Casting Call

WHO: Students who are interested in playing music and/or being part of a dance troupe
WHEN: January 18th
WHAT: If you want to be a part of Battle of the Bands this GEER Week, now is your chance! Planning for BOTB is starting soon, and we need people like you to make it great! Please contact if you are interested

6) Leaders Prize Competition

WHO: Anyone interested in Aritificial Intelligence and Hackathons
WHEN: June 19th 2019
WHAT: Misinformation is rampant no matter where you look on the internet. Fact checkers and reputable news sources were a sufficient solution to keep well informed in the past, but this wave of fake news challenges that tradition. The Schulich Foundation invites you to tackle this problem with AI. Groups of up to 5 people are tasked with creating an AI that can evaluate the validity of the statement, and if possible, provide evidence. The winning team will claim the $1 milllion prize! This is a great experience to undertake. The competition is far off now, but it definatly worth your consideration!
